Many of you will have passed St John’s and noticed the scaffolders, men in high visibility gear and conservators in their zip-up suits. In fact, you would be hard pressed not to notice them! But what many won’t have been able to see is the skilled, delicate work which is being carried out on our church.
I have been fortunate to be able to climb the numerous scaffolds, visit workshops and chat with the conservators whilst they have been at work. However, I won’t be keeping all of this information to myself! I’ve been making a series of short videos which have been going out regularly online. These have included the painting restorations, conservation work in the churchyard and even a recent and exciting trip to the stained glass workshops in York.
I am aware that most have better things to do than hanging around a computer to watch videos of me talking. So, I will be putting together a short film of the restorations and renovations which I will be sharing with you in the New Year. I’ll update you when I have a firm date in mind.
