Advent and Christmas Services at St John’s and Holy Innocents

Sunday 3rd December 10.00 Advent 1.  An atmospheric communion service including lighting the first Advent Candle.

Sunday 10th December 10.00 Advent 2. A special Advent gift communion service where you are invited to bring a (wrapped and labelled) gift for a child who might otherwise not receive a Christmas present.

Sunday 17th December 10.00 Advent 3.  Gaudate Sunday, which means “rejoice!” – A communion service where we will be worshiping in joyful anticipation of our Lord’s coming.

Sunday 24th December 10.00 Advent 4.  Although it is December 24th, it is Advent until dusk.  We will be lighting our fourth Advent candle in this thoughtful and peaceful communion service.

Sunday 24th December 16.00 Christingle Service.  This Sharow tradition marks the beginning of many people’s Christmas celebrations.  Expect carols, oranges, candles and lots of excited children.

Sunday 24th December 11:30pm Midnight Eucharist. Traditional Christmas Service as Christmas Eve turns into Christmas Day. Christ is born! Glory to God in the highest.

Monday 25th December 10.00 Christmas Day.  The Big Day has finally arrived. Celebrate the true meaning of Christmas in this short eucharistic service.

Sunday 26th November 15.30 Christmas Tree Festival Service

Sunday 3rd December 16.00 Advent Carols by Candlelight.  O come, O come Emmanuel.  A gentle introduction to the preparations for Christmas as we sing familiar Advent hymns and hear the prophesies about the coming King.

Sunday 17th December 15.00 The Angel’s List – a dress up nativity.  Whatever your age, dress up as your favourite nativity character and be guaranteed a part in this scratch nativity play with carols.

Sunday 25th December 9.00 Christmas Communion.  Celebrate the Saviour’s birth in traditional style with a Festal Communion, share in the sacrament or receive a Christmas blessing and get your Christmas Day off to a perfect start.
