Saying Thank you to God for his goodness and enjoying food and fellowship with one another are essential parts of the Harvest Season.
St John’s, Sharow, and Holy Innocents’ Copt Hewick are both celebrating this year.
On 7th October at 11:00am at Copt Hewick Village Hall there will be a Harvest Festival and Blessing of Pets. Revd Ruth Newton will be speaking on “Cultivating an attitude of gratitude which which will be followed by a Harvest Lunch of Soup and Deserts. There will be stalls to buy produce.
On 14th October St John’s, Sharow, will be holding its All Age Harvest Festival, to which the children of Sharow school are invited. Children are invited to create an animal made of fruit and vegetables for a competition (the animals are then made into soup and crumbles for the Silver Diners’ Lunch Club. Peter Snowdon who farms at Middleton Quernhow will be the speaker.
After the service there will be a Harvest Lunch and Auction of Produce. The lunch of Shepherd’s Pie and Apple Pie will cost £10 and should be booked with Revd Ruth, by 7th October.
