Sharow and Copt Hewick  – Children’s activities and services

JAM stands for ’Jesus and Me’.

It is open to all children and young people, and runs most Sundays at 10 am at Sharow in the new meeting room within church. Make new friends here.

On the a Sunday when there is an All Age Service, JAM club stay in the main service, and they also join in special services like Harvest and Remembrance Sunday.   Parents are welcome to join their child in JAM club if they are nervous, but most parents prefer to have some quiet time in church!

For more details or to discuss any additional needs your child may have please contact [email protected], or Carol-ann on 07815 126322.

Church life

Some children and young people would prefer to be in the main service rather than JAM club and this is welcomed. It might be your child’s first time in church and we want them to be happy. We love to see and hear babies and toddlers in church, and give all our children chances to join in church life. This may be joining the vicar at the front during the service, taking the collection, handing out biscuits after the service, reading in church or joining the choir, there are lots of opportunities to be part of the family. As they grow the children tell us that they feel they belong in our church, and that there are lots of people who care for them.

Extra activities

The JAM club also enjoys extra activities through the year, for example trips to the beach, camping out in church, barbecues etc.

We also hold extra events like our Saturday craft afternoons that anyone is welcome to come to, and many families like to come to our events like the family ceilidh, or enter things like Angel and Christmas tree festivals.

Our church has a special focus on conservation, we think it’s important to look after the building and land we have been given. JAM club are often found making bug houses or on nature walks, and there are lots of special events to attend like bat walks, moth counts and Saturdays raking up the hay.

Service Times: Sharow: 10am every Sunday. Services are either all age, so JAM club will join the congregation, or there will be a JAM club running alongside the service. Copt Hewick: Services are held one Sunday each month and are all family friendly.

Safeguarding Keeping everyone safe and happy in church is the most important thing we do.

When a child comes to JAM club for the first time the leader will ask the parent about any special needs, allergies etc they may have. We are happy to work with any special needs a child may have, please talk to us about how we can help, we do have staff qualified in this area.

All of our leaders are DBS checked, and we have two adults in a session at all times. We also have an independent safeguarding officer.

If anyone is worried about the safety of a child please talk to any member of the clergy team or Nicky on 07974 731609 or at [email protected]
